how we work with our clients
The first step is to conduct a detailed site analysis and to formulate a brief. This is normally carried out during a couple of meetings with our client. We photograph the site and discuss design details in depth with the client, or if the site is large, a full land survey is carried out.
We then prepare a master sketch plan in CAD and, usually, also in a hand-rendered format, a CGI render, perspective drawing and a mood board which illustrate how the garden will look. Once the design is approved by the client, we prepare specifications and working drawings from which the contractors can prepare a quotation for the landscaping works.
Finally, we prepare a planting plan and full planting list for client approval.
INITIAL MEETING | CLIENT BRIEF
The initial on site meeting usually takes about an hour. At this meeting, we will discuss your ideas or vision for the space, garden styles you like, or look at images of other gardens that you admire. Don't worry if you don't have a set idea of what you want as that is why we are here!
We will have a look at the garden / space / room and take some measurements. Together we will walk through your garden and outline our initial impression and ideas for the space. Design options and products will be discussed, along with the opportunity to view other projects in our portfolio for inspiration.
The first meeting is free of charge and you are under no obligation to continue to the design phase. Following the initial meeting, a fee proposal is presented outlining project deliverables and timeframe.
PRELIMINARY CONCEPT PLANS
Upon acceptance of the fee proposal we will develop your Landscape Concept Design based on your brief. This is where your vision comes to life! A concept plan will feature general ideas for your proposed landscape and communicate the design intent, proposed layout, suggested surfaces, finishes, and planting concepts.
We will provide two concepts of your new garden, you are not bound to an individual design, and can pick various elements from each design.
On the second consultation, we will take you through each design decision and the overall thinking behind the concept. Upon receiving your feedback, we will develop the concept into a final landscape plan.
This document takes the form of a finished site plan clearly showing the design. It is to scale and includes a detailed plant list. In addition to the landscape plan we can provide elevations, 3D rendering, irrigation and lighting plans (these additional services will be charged at our standard hourly rate).
